The best way to be a green power consumer is to install both photovoltaic panels for electricity production and solar water heaters on our rooftops. The sun’s average power is approximately 1000 W/m2, which represents 10,000 times the power required for the world’s population. Given our current challenges with global warming and the consequent climate change impacts, we can’t emphasize strongly enough the sheer waste of not using this resource, which is so readily available and inexpensive.

When a solar water heater replaces an electric water heater the electricity displaced over 20 years represents more than 50 tons of avoided carbon dioxide emissions alone. Solar water heaters can assist in reducing this country’s dependence on oil resources resources.
